Studio Beveling System
Studio Beveling from Glastar repairs and "cut off" bevel work. It's a versatile bench top system that occupies minimal space.
This particular model from Glastar is called the B4RV Variable Speed Grinder and it is designed for grinding and polishing straight edges and outside curves. This is adjustable from 1725 RPM to zero by just turning a knob. It takes up very little bench space, and yet it is extremely stable because of its weight and low center of gravity. The B4RV is similar to other Glastar bevelers, but it is preferable in the following case:
If it is the only grinder in the shop, you or your customer will need as versatile a tool as possible.
If the B4 will also be used for final polishing, a slower speed is desirable.
Cold-glass working. You will need the ability to slow the disc for delicate pieces.
Lapidary shops may prefer different speeds for different materials.
Magnetic Disc Holder: Grinding discs are held in place magnetically. This unique mounting arrangement allows use of the total grinding surface without being concerned about the work piece striking a mounting screw. It takes only 2 or 3 seconds to change discs.
Motors: Both 1/3HP motors are "industrial" quality, and the variable-speed is a permanent-magnet motor.
Splash Guard: This removable rubber guard completely eliminates spray. Clips are provided to retract the guard at two points so that long pieces can be ground.
Cooling System: For applying coolant there is an adjustable goose neck, valve and a 1/4" compression fitting. This flexible goose neck makes it very easy to direct a heavy stream of coolant to any area of the disc. There is also an 8 ft. x 5/8" drain line included.
Housing: Molded Polyethylene, 1/2" thick, which will not rust. The catch basin is sloped toward the drain which eliminates any residue build up.
Base: A 3/16" thick steel plate forms the base to which everything is mounted.
Speed Control The electronic control for the variable speed motor produces a constant torque and includes current limiting to protect both the motor and control. By changing the dial the shaft speed is continuously variable between zero and 1725 RPM.
